File Upload Security Policy
Revision 1 · Published 2026-07-30 13:08:59
Only supported manuscript formats may be uploaded. BetaQuill currently accepts validated PDF and EPUB files within the published size limit. File names and extensions are not trusted on their own; the service checks file signatures, format structure, archive paths, expansion limits, and integrity fingerprints.
Every accepted upload is placed in private quarantine. A file is not available to readers unless it has the required security clearance and every access condition is satisfied. A missing, failed, timed-out, or inconclusive scan is not a clean result.
Do not upload executable code, scripts, malicious content, encrypted files that cannot be inspected, archive bombs, material designed to exploit a reader's software, or content you are not authorised to distribute. Suspicious files may be rejected, isolated, retained temporarily for investigation, or deleted under the published retention process.
The current hosting environment does not yet provide automatic server-side antivirus. BetaQuill therefore does not claim automatic antivirus coverage until a tested scanning integration is enabled. Format validation and quarantine remain active in the meantime.
This is an operational draft pending formal legal review.
