Using BetaQuill

You must provide accurate account information, protect your sign-in credentials and use BetaQuill only for lawful Beta-reading, ARC-reading and related publishing collaboration.

Your material

You retain ownership of manuscripts and other material you upload. You give BetaQuill only the limited permission needed to store, validate, scan, process and deliver that material as part of the campaign features you choose.

Author and reader responsibilities

Authors must have the right to share uploaded material and must describe campaign expectations honestly. Readers must protect confidential material, respect campaign agreements and never redistribute manuscripts or misuse another member’s personal information.

Access and subscriptions

Volunteer reader accounts are free. The first 20 eligible genuine author registrations receive BetaQuill author access free for life. Later authors are £2.50 per month, professional readers who charge are £1.99 per month, and professional service providers such as editors and publishers are £4.99 per month when those provider roles launch. Synthetic test accounts do not consume founder places. Subscription collection remains disabled until checkout, consumer terms, tax treatment and the matching paid entitlements are ready. Operational storage, security, moderation and acceptable-use limits still apply.

An author subscription continues until the author deliberately pauses it. Pausing is permitted only when every campaign is closed or archived. A paused author retains read-only access to completed campaigns, agreements, documents and reports, and must resume before creating, reopening or running campaign work. BetaQuill will present checkout, renewal, pause, cancellation and applicable tax information before taking payment.

Safety and availability

BetaQuill may restrict or remove accounts and content to protect members, enforce policies or meet legal obligations. Early-access features may change, and no technical or antivirus measure can guarantee that every threat or unauthorised disclosure will be prevented.

Reader-copy security

Reader-specific copies may contain visible and non-visible signed allocation markers used for security investigation. Removing or attempting to defeat a marker does not permit redistribution. A marker match is allocation evidence and is not, on its own, proof that a particular person caused a disclosure.

Recovered-copy investigations

Authors may use the account investigation tool only for files they are entitled to inspect. Results are limited to their own workspaces. Authors must preserve relevant context, avoid treating allocation evidence as automatic proof of fault, and use access restrictions, complaints or legal notices responsibly.
