Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about accounts, campaigns, confidentiality and platform safety.

Who is BetaQuill for?

Authors running private Beta or ARC campaigns and volunteer readers who want organised, clearly scoped participation.

Are readers paid for public reviews?

No. Volunteer reading and public reviews are not sold. A future professional Beta marketplace will remain separate from public-review activity.

Who can see a manuscript?

Only an authorised campaign reader who satisfies the current assignment, agreement, security and revocation checks. Reader downloads are not enabled in the present release.

Are uploads scanned for malware?

PDF and EPUB uploads are structurally validated and privately quarantined. Version 0.9 includes an on-host scanner pilot that operates only after its compatibility test passes. Missing, failed or inconclusive scans remain quarantined; antivirus cannot guarantee detection of every threat.

Can an author remove a reader?

Yes. Removal revokes the campaign assignment, records the reason in the audit trail and sends the reader a notification email.

How does author early access work?

Authors participate free throughout early access. When paid subscriptions begin, eligible early-access authors pay £2.99 per month for their first 12 paid months. Reader accounts remain free.

Is there a campaign limit?

No. One flat author subscription covers unlimited Beta and ARC campaigns. Operational storage, upload-security and acceptable-use limits still apply, but there is no per-campaign charge.

What happens when a policy changes?

A new immutable revision is published. Material changes create a new policy-bundle fingerprint and members must accept it before making protected changes.

How do I contact BetaQuill support?

Email support@betaquill.com for account help, privacy requests, abuse reports or manuscript-security concerns.
